§ 21-8. Designation and marking of through streets and stop and yield intersections.

  • (a)

    The chief of police, with the approval of the city commission and with reference to city streets under their jurisdiction, may designate through streets and erect stop signs at specified entrances thereto or may designate any intersection as a stop intersection, or yield-right-of-way intersection, and erect stop or yield signs at one (1) or more entrances to such intersection.

    (b)

    Every stop or yield-right-of-way sign shall be erected as near as practicable to the nearest line of the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection or, if there is no crosswalk, then as close as practicable to the nearest line of the roadway.
