§ 6-15. Removal of weeds, rubbish, etc., constituting fire hazards.

  • It shall be the duty of the chief of the fire department to inspect or cause to be inspected at least twice in each year all lots and lands in the limits of the city, and wherever there are weeds, palmettos, wild growth or rubbish upon any lot or parcel of land in the city, which in the judgment of the chief may constitute a fire hazard, he shall give five (5) days' notice in writing to the owner, occupant or person having control of such lot or parcel of land, requiring the removal of the weeds, palmettos, wild growth and rubbish as herein provided. If, at the expiration of the notice, the same shall not have been removed, the chief shall summarily proceed to remove the same, or the same may be removed by the city and the cost thereof assessed.
