§ 10-1. Police department.

  • A police department is hereby created and established for the protection of lives and property, the prevention of crime, and the apprehension of criminals, and to provide an atmosphere of safety and tranquility for the citizens and the community.

Editor's note

Ord. No. O-92-9, § 2, adopted April 15, 1992, repealed former §§ 10-1—10-3, which pertained to authority to search prisoners prior to confinement, authority to pursue and arrest escaped prisoners and authority to require assistance from citizens in arresting escaped prisoners, respectively, and derived from §§ 15-1—15-3 of the city's 1960 Code.
