§ 2-14. Parks and recreation department.

(a)

The city commission hereby creates a new and separate department known as parks and recreation.

(b)

The department of parks and recreation shall be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the city's parks and recreational facilities. Furthermore, it is charged with fostering partnerships with neighborhood schools and expanding weekend activities; providing the addition of new special events; and enhancing existing events; and increased planning efforts in the new facilities acquired as part of the city's redevelopment efforts.
